Most people have no idea about how to clean a glass bong. It is very easy to make these beautiful glass items, and they are even easier to break if they aren’t well cleaned. The main thing that makes glass bongs so unique is the shape of the body. In this article I’m going to tell you the top five ways to clean them, all in one easy to follow lesson. I’ll also explain what kind of cleaning fluid you need for proper results.
The first thing: that you need to do is take out your bong and add about a quarter cup of white vinegar. If you can find some old, uncooked salt, that would be even better. You can use any type of liquid dish detergent, like liquid laundry detergent or club soda. When you pour this over your bong, remember to leave at least half a cup of liquid in the bottom of the bong. This is just the cleaning agent, and the reason why we use the soap to clean them.
The second step: that you need to do is get a bowl or bottle with hot water, and some baking soda. What we’re doing here is trying to prevent bacteria contamination from forming on your plastic bong. The reason that you want to do this is because a hot water bottle will allow the mixture to become more oxygenated, and therefore a good breeding ground for bacteria. It doesn’t take much oxygen for bacterial contamination to grow, so by keeping your bong in a hot water bottle for a few hours, you’re going to prevent a lot of germs from forming.
The third step involves pouring: the white vinegar into the bowl or bottle with hot water. What happens with the vinegar is that it reacts with the bacteria that are already growing on the resin inside the bong. Once the vinegar reacts with the bacteria, then it kills them, and they stop growing. Once the amount of bacteria has been controlled, you can clean the bong by using a paper towel to wipe out all of the residual vinegar. There will be some resin left behind, and that’s okay, because it’s going to react with the white vinegar to make it easier for you to remove the resin.
The fourth step involves putting: the hot water to the end of the bong and then filling it up with your rinse. The idea here is that you’re going to make sure that there is not too much water left in there after you pour the vinegar and baking soda onto it. After you have done that, you can rinse it with hot water and then just let it dry in the sun.
The fifth step involves putting: some alcohol on a rag and scrubbing down the bong. What happens with the alcohol is that it will break down any of the chemicals or resins left behind on the bong. Once you have done that, you can rinse it off with hot water. This is a very easy process and one that anybody can do.
Just take a hot shower and a few hours later, you’re going to be able to take the bong out of the cabinet, and it will look as good as new!
