I’m going to share with you a very scary Halloween story that I did not write. It has haunted me for many years, and every time I see the movie “Psycho” I want to scream! The story is called “The Haunting of Hill House”. It is by Carol Burnett, and it is one of my favorite horror novels. If you have never read this book, then you are in for a real treat!
The story begins in June of 1963: when a twelve-year-old boy named Mark woke up in his house at night. He was in bed, but he couldn’t fall back asleep, and he started to stare at the ceiling. Suddenly, he heard noises downstairs, and his grandmother came in to find him lying there in bed. He had no recollection of what happened during the night, but when his grandmother asked him about it, he said that he saw a man in black standing by his bedroom door. The next thing his grandmother saw was the man in black walking towards his door, but before he could enter, there was a shot heard on the stairs.
Two days later, another young couple: David and Evelyn were walking down the street, and David suddenly felt something tugging on his shirt. His mother asked him what happened, and David told her that he saw a man in a black coat standing beside their house that they didn’t recognize. The next thing he knew, the man had disappeared. His wife called the police, but by the time they arrived, the culprit had already escaped.
A few weeks later: David’s friend Lorraine got a call from their son, Eric. He told her about the strange phone call and told her that their son went inside their haunted house just before dark one night. When they arrived home, they saw blood on the floor, and a very strong musty odor. They instantly knew that something very bad had happened to their family’s home.
Many people who have experienced: haunting stories will tell you that there are often accompanying feelings of dread and anxiety. Some people even describe the feeling as if the house is going to burst into flame! Others say that they are physically ill with headaches, nausea, and body aches. It is a common occurrence for people to feel physical symptoms after being in the haunted house.
People have even described feeling as if they were dying: These haunting stories have caused many researchers to wonder if these haunting tales are true. There are many stories of haunted houses that have been featured in movies, books, and television programs, and in some cases, these homes have been staged! If you have your own haunted house story to tell, try looking up some haunting photographs online.
There are many pictures of haunted houses out there that you can look up and get a feeling of what it would be like to experience living in that particular house.
