Chris Stapleton is a versatile singer-songwriter and record producer, best known for his country music. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky and grew up in Staffordsville. The fact that the family moved around a lot helps explain some of his songs about moving places. Many of his songs have elements of western songwriting but also have an eastern flavor.
In his new album “ioluptial” – which is out now, he tackles marriage in the western way. The album artwork depicts a couple in front of a wedding bell. The theme of the album is typical of most Chris Stapleton songs, with stars and blocks of white space representing the musical score. This theme is the same as Stapleton’s debut album “American Pie” which was also released in 1994.
So how old is Chris Stapleton again? On the “American Pie” album, he gave several different nicknames to his band members, calling them the “Grammy Awards” because of their large size. However, unlike “American Pie” which was quickly banned by the R&B industry, Chris has never used any of those nicknames on the “ioluptial”. Instead, he chooses to refer to them as the “chicks from Tennessee.” A closer look at this song and his history might give you an idea as to why he chose to use this term.
According to Stapleton’s bio on Wikipedia – he was born in July of 1955 in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Memphis, Tennessee as a teenager. His family later moved to Nashville, Tennessee. Chris was interested in music at a very young age, however he was forced to leave school after only one semester because he couldn’t afford it. He then joined the Grammies Lions Club which later became theMRT (MEMPHIS) where he met his future wife, Pennycook. He later went on to play bass for many artists including Merl Johnson.
When Stapleton was twenty-one years old – he had started working as a recruiter for the United States Army, but he soon decided that he wanted to start his own label. To do this, he had to get a demo recorded and send it out to various radio stations. His demo became known as “CHRIS STAPleton xxx.” After getting the demo signed by Atlantic Records, Stapleton moved to Lexington, Kentucky and opened up a recording studio called The Sunset Recording Studio. Here he worked with several other artists including actress/singer Diana Ross, actor Danny Glover, along with several other country musicians. His first album was entitled “Blue Hawaii.”
Throughout the years – Stapleton has recorded over forty-five songs that went gold. His albums have gone straight into the top of the country music ratings, as well as several other audio category’s including rap and rock. How old is Chris Stapleton you ask? According to him he is not an “old man,” rather a “young man.”
