The lamb of God is the Gift of Prophecy and Discourses by John H. King. John King is an Elder in the Missionary Church of the East Bay of San Francisco CA. He is a former mission president. He has lots of valuable insights to share with the reader.
We have all received a message from God through – His Son Jesus Christ. Some of us remember it and some never do. There are a power and a will behind the message, but it is God’s power and will that seals the deal. What an awesome concept! I am always delighted when I get a copy of a CD of John King’s CD. It makes me feel refreshed and renewed each time!
In this CD, John King teaches us about the lamb of God – He explains how Jesus came into the world to fulfill one particular task. When Jesus Christ came on the scene, he took the place of his Father who is seated on a throne. He substituted himself for the Lamb. Everyone in the mob was amazed at this scene, including the elders of the day.
The elders saw that Jesus had two titles: “Lamb of God” and” Lamb of Man.” These two titles clearly indicate that Christ was God or the Lamb of God. He took up his position next to God, so to speak. He made no mistake. In the parable of the Lost Sheep and the Parable of the Lost Coin, Christ said that there would be certain changes that would take place in the Kingdom of God. Two of these changes were, the coming of Jesus and the Crucifixion. The passage clearly indicates that Jesus had other names, which were different from those of the lamb. We see that at the time of the Resurrection, after Christ’s ascension, the true lamb of God was revealed.
When we read the parables – of the Lost Sheep and the Parable of the Lost Coin, we find that Christ used three distinct names. The reason for this is that he was not yet identified as the “Lamb of God,” although he was identified as such by the elders of His day. He never refused to take on the title. It was because he was the King of the Jews that he accepted it and used it exclusively.
In the Book of Ruth – when Naomi moved to Bethlehem, the elders told her that she should marry Boaz, which is a boy. She did as they directed. Boaz lived for thirty years and married Rachel, who bore him six daughters. Then he went into Arabia, which is now Israel. We have read in the Bible that He returned as the lamb of God, and He is ever atoning for our sin.
When we read of Jesus – He reveals that He was the lamb of God, just as John the Baptist has been credited with being. The Baptist did not wait for special circumstances to make Him known. Neither did the woman of Samaria wait for Boaz to marry her.
Jesus did not hesitate to reveal His identity as the lamb of God, because He always and forever loved the children of Israel.
