A Beautiful Dreamer by David Packouz

This new movie called The War Dogs tells the true story of a CIA agent who goes back home to the United States following the Gulf War. Yes, the War Dogs true tale confirms that David Packouz was actually working as a masseur in Miami before joining up with former high school pal Efraim Diveroli. Similar to what is usually seen in the film, Packouz sold cheap sheets to textile shops in Pakistan that were used for making camoflauge. The two struck up a friendship and a romance that lasted until their eventual separation when Packouz returned home to the United States. In the film, it is shown that Packouz saves the life of a blind man who later in life becomes his best friend.

However, one must take note of the fact: that The War Dogs is not a true story at all. The movie starts off by showing us the scenes from the real life events that the character Packouz undergoes in his time in Pakistan and later in the United States. We see him meeting other people from his country of origin and also in the United States. He gets to know other Americans through their business acquaintances and also through his work with an arms dealer. The true story of Packouz only involves those few individuals and that includes David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli who played opposite each other. They are both shown in their different characters and their past experiences.

The true story revolves around: how David Packouz ends up getting captured by terrorists who wanted to obtain nuclear weapons. Here, we learn that Packouz was working as an arms dealer for a certain company when the US Government wants to buy some stocks from him so they can develop nuclear weapons. The terrorists manage to get hold of Packouz’s stock and with the help of other people and money, they sell this stock to a rogue company that is holding the nuclear weapons. This resulted in the 29thousand deaths in New York.

So, here, we learn: that David Packouz survived the attack but in the end, he became very injured. He underwent several operations and he lost his right arm. Eventually, he metamorphosed into an albino dog and he later learns that the terrorist group that kidnapped him is named Kosta Trebicka and his associate were using him as a human shield. Kosta convinced Packouz that if he cooperated with them, they would release him. However, Packouz still didn’t believe them and they kidnapped him again.

In the real-life story: we see David Packouz becoming a US citizen and working hard to support himself and his family. One day, he receives a call from his handler telling him that he has been recalled to work with the Afghans. David Packouz doesn’t want to go because he still thinks of his handler as a war dog killer. Nevertheless, he heads to Afghanistan. There, he witnesses the killing of a number of civilians by the terrorists and he also sees how a number of US soldiers are badly wounded. Because of the injuries that the US soldiers received, they cannot fight anymore so David Packouz volunteers to carry out their duty and he becomes an expert in carrying out tasks related to searching for live soldiers.

The true story of David Packouz started: when he was just 18 years old and he only wanted to join the military so that he can one day see his children grow up without war. And, like a true man of action, he will do anything to attain his dream. In this movie, he learns that sometimes helping the enemy may be your best choice, but he must understand how that will affect the people he is going to. Although the movie shows how David Packouz changes throughout the story, it is probably fair to say that the ending of the film is what sealed the deal for me.

I liked how the character of David Packouz changed throughout the film and I think that the man had gone completely insane by the end of the film.
